The world is your oyster.
It really is.

Buying, merchandising & design

Being a professional Buyer with House of Fraser is all about negotiating, strategising and making astute commercial decisions. Yes there’s the occasional trip abroad, to places as far flung as India and Thailand, the USA, in search of ideas, products and inspiration. But trust us – there’s much, much more to it than that.

Whether you join us in your first job as a Buyer or as a multi-award-winning pro, you’ll feel right at home here as you focus on building a range of products and brands (across fashion, home, accessories and beauty) to sit proudly on our shelves.

It’s a job that calls for charisma by the bucket load, a commercial mindset, and the ability to roll your sleeves up and work strategically with everyone from designers and suppliers to merchandisers and store managers – pulling together the best range of products and making sure it sells.

We don’t look for Buying degrees or anything like that (although, naturally, it will always come in handy) – rather, we look for Buyers who are obsessed with fashion and fashionable things. People who live and breathe it. And, above all, people who love nothing more than travelling the globe in search of inspiration and the next big trend a whole year before it hits the catwalks and shops.

Merchandising

Merchandising. It’s one of those careers few people outside of it know a lot about. But for those on the inside, they know it’s one of the most fulfilling, diverse and creative jobs out there. And it’s something we know a thing or two about too.

As one of our Merchandisers, you’ll get to work with 1,000s of premium brands at any one time – sourcing products, buying them, negotiating rates, managing stock and, of course, working out how everything is going to get from A to B.

You’ll work side-by-side with Owners, Designers and our team of Buyers to put together the best commercial package imaginable for each of our individual stores (and each store really is a one-off).

And in return, we offer superb training, a structured career path and a vibrant office in the buzzing heart of London, where you’ll plan future best-selling ranges across everything from Womenswear and Menswear, to Beauty and Home.

Design

Colour. Print. Texture. Pattern. Coming up with a design and turning it into a best seller. They’re all things we live and breathe for – if they are for you too, then join us in our amazing Design team.

Whether you take your inspiration from international catwalks, street fashion, blogs or fashion forecasters, it really doesn’t matter – we draw on a huge variety of sources to create, design and develop the next generation of products for our House brand portfolio. Everything we design is done in house, by this team.

If you are creative, like having a different day every day and enjoy working with like minded innovative, commercial people this is the place for you.
